A Rainy Sunday

Today we had plans to move some wood inside and do a few things outdoors, since the weather forecast promised some warmer weather.

Well, it was warmer but the gray drizzling rain that wasn’t mentioned in the forecast caused us to rethink our plans.

This morning I tried a new type of bread recipe that is baked in a Dutch oven.  It was alarmingly solid but still tasty.  This recipe definitely needs a lil tweak.

We spent a cozy day indoors, making Christmas presents like this:

Haha!  You didn’t actually think I’d post pictures of them did you?  Good try, kids!!!!

The tree is up …with a non-traditional twist.  I’m nothing if not colorful!

The original plan when we moved up to the great white north had been to do a real tree for the first time ever.
Then, I split wood, and that little reality check definitely made me a bit less enthusiastic about the idea of chopping down a tree.
Then, fate stepped in when I found a funky pre-lit white tree on sale for the same price as the tree stand for the real tree.
Hey, who am I to argue with fate?
The stockings are hung with care, although not by the chimney.  With a wood stove that would be a fire hazard!
Still in our jammies, this evening I opened a jar of chili that I canned last month, hacked off a hunk of the breadweight and we have an evening of holiday crafting and movies planned.
Happy Sunday!
