Don’t Make Us Tell Child Welfare: Schools Insist on Forced Medical Exams for Kids

What would you do if you received a threatening letter from your child’s school, demanding that you take your youngster to a medical doctor and dentist at the whims of the school administrators, or risk being reported to the child welfare authorities?

Parents in at least two states have gotten exactly such letters. Police State USA reports:

Under the auspices of keeping children healthy, the government has usurped the role of “parent” away from actual parents.  The state — not legal guardians — is determining when and how children should be subjected to outside business influences.

The provisions establish that the state has taken the final say in parenting matters, undermining parents’ natural role in the child’s life as protector and final decision maker.  The provision invades the privacy of the family by giving the government access to private medical results.

Then there is the inherent problem of forcing people into unwanted business contracts, with parties they may not agree with, for services that may not be needed or wanted.   The law states that the health certificates may only be signed by medical staff authorized by the state; meaning that parents’ alternatives to fulfill this mandate are limited down to allopathic, pro-pharmaceutical doctors.  Families who favor natural and holistic caregivers are undermined by virtue of exclusionary state licensing. First, the letter from New York:

NYS_DentalExamSchoolReq

Then the one from Michigan…

michigan letter

Let me emphasize the most important and terrifying line in this letter:

It is our intention to work with you in this matter to avoid any involvement with child protection services.

This letter is threatening the parents of this youngster with child welfare agencies if they do not comply with the demands of the school. So, potentially, at the very least, the welfare agency could investigate the family, and at the worst, take steps to remove the child from the household, all because a parent might have different ideas about healthcare than those of the school system.

This brings us to some very important questions about privacy and the right to make decisions for your own children.

  • If you are anti-vaccine, will the doctor refuse to sign the letter? What happens then?
  • What if the medical or dental visit is not in the budget at the time the school demands it?
  • What if you choose to treat your child’s concerns with natural substances and diet, but the doctor wants you to medicate with pharmaceuticals?
  • What gives the school the right to tell you that you must take your child to a standard physician instead of a holistic practitioner?
  • What if you refuse to have your child’s teeth treated with toxic fluoride?
  • Will your child be subjected to nosy questions, such as inquiries about firearms in the home?

The US government seems more and more convinced that THEY own YOUR kids. Just this week, a Tennessee dad was arrested for picking up his young children after school instead of allowing them to cross into traffic as the school’s policy demanded. Some schools won’t allow lunches to be sent from home, and if they are, the school insists on supplementing those lunches at extortionistic rates in order to control the situation regardless of parental wishes. This doesn’t even take into account the dumbed down Common Core curriculum, the absurd attempts to be politically correct, and the zero-tolerance insanity that causes kids to be charged with felonies for having loaded fishing tackle boxes in their vehicles or cutlery in their lunch boxes.

If you’re wondering why so many people homeschool, add this to the ever-growing list of reasons.

  • Well, Moochelle did say that we would have to change our traditions and our way of doing things…..
Parents-I don’t care what it costs you. Please homeschool your children!!

    • This is why I am choosing to homeschool my kids. CPS is a nightmare to deal with. Five years of false allegation they couldn’t prove, and now they are finally withdrawing the case, all because a school called in false allegations against me. THE SCHOOL SYSTEM AND CPS ARE FILLED WITH CRIMINALS AND THEY MUST BE STOPPED!

  • I agree it’s time for everyone to pull their kids from these public schools and homeschool their kids. the schools have long since caring about education and have damned good at sticking their noses where they don’t belong. whatever the kids are doing when they’re NOT on school property is none of the school’s damned business. Whatever decisions are made about their kids’ dental and medical care is the parents’ decision, not the schools’. These ALLEGED educators don’t have a leg to stand on. If anyone were to come for my kids, I’d give them one chance only to turn around and get away from us ALIVE. that is something that will get people on both sides killed if it’s allowed to happen. I would hope everyone will stop and think before doing anything foolish. Let some common sense prevail.

  • Fine, if you don’t want to take your child to the dentist for checkups then let their teeth rot out. But don’t ask me the taxpayer to pay for extensive dental repair work and dentures when this happens due to your “natural” lifestyle. Teeth that are neglected “naturally” decay and fall out. That is why only 50 years ago before modern dentistry most old folks wore dentures. Police state? I don’t think so. You are paranoid….

    • Lets look at the FACTS. What we eat has a direct relationship to our health. So people eating NATURAL (organic)foods, high in vitamins and minerals, drinking pure water and brushing their teeth regularly, are not going to cost ‘the taxpayer’ anything because this group is less likely to suffer tooth decay! If you do some research via the Weston A Price Foundation, you will learn how primitive people who NEVER brushed their teeth had no tooth decay because their diets were nutrient dense. Dental disease is still a big problem in our modern culture today even with increased brushing/flossing campaigns and the almighty flouride toothpaste. How can this be? Well, we are what we eat, and if all we eat is GMO’s, food additives, chemicals, high fructose corn syrups and food that has no nutrition what so ever, there’s no question as to why tooth decay prevails.
Thank you for posting your perspective Doncaster, it helps to reinforce that we are not paranoid when we can think for ourselves and stay outside of the flock of sheeple the powers that be have so successfully brainwashed.

    • Actually… CPS can walk into your child’s school (California FACT along with the other states I have checked into), take your kids into their custody for FIVE days and tell you NOTHING… All they have to say to justify this KIDNAPPING of your child/ren is that they had “SUSPICION” They have more power than police do in most states and they hold themselves above everyone and everything else INCLUDING the law!!!!!

  • Yes, the answer is to pull them out! and we have to help each other. I help new homeschool parents to teach their kids to learn. I tutor the parents as well as the kids, and some pay in food.

We need and must help each other, be a support to each other to help other families get their kids off the system!

    Lord help us!

  • I taught in a public school for a good number of years. At one point I realized that my personal standards were in direct conflict with the (lack of) standards in the school system. I resigned. I took a massive financial hit, but do not regret my decision. I walked my talk.

I cannot emphasis enough the importance of home school. This is not to be confused with schooling at home! Schooling at home merely mimics the “training” in what we call erroneously consider getting an education. Compulsory school, as most of us have experienced, kills the joy of learning, the joy and freedom of being an autodidact, independent thinking, and creativity.

    • Nicely said G! Our first year of home schooling had many a learning curve because we were trying to follow the ‘systems’ example.

Part of the daily guidance we give our children now, is outdoor skills similar to those taught in Scouts and 4H. They also learn varied domestic skills, gardening, canning, maintenance and repairs of home and vehicles. They take classes at an Art Museum, Science at a Club, Leggo Robotics and other activities at the Library, and PE at the local Boys & Girls Club.
They have daily chores at home and are responsible for the over all functioning of the family unit. We use a variety of online curriculum for our 3 R’s as well as text books and work sheets. The day to day grind is full of teaching opportunities and children are naturally curious and inquisitive, so when they ask a question we assist them in using the tools needed to find the answer. Sometimes those ‘tools’ are as simple as saying to your child, ”What do you THINK you should do?” I have asked them if they would prefer to return to a ‘regular’ school and the answer is always “No!”

I quit my job to stay home and my husband took a pay cut to be home every night. My husband works Oil Field, and We live in our RV, travel State to State to stay employed. Was this an easy transition from a typical life? No! I really get frustrated when I hear parents say they could never do what we are doing. So my message is if you can’t do what we do, DON’T. Instead, figure out what you CAN do! Move into a smaller house, give the leased vehicle back and buy an older/cheaper one. Cook instead of eating out. Work a part time job. If you want it bad enough for your children you can always find a way.

  • Decayed teeth affect one’s school work?

hmmm…I guess that statement is a trigger to guilt parents.

    It’s utterly foolish.
